About Preper
Preper is a practical guide to getting ready for the situations that can leave us, for a few days, without power, water, phone signal or access to shops: earthquakes, floods, winter storms, long blackouts, economic or health crises.
We don’t write for movie-style “survivalists”. We write for ordinary people living in flats and houses, with children, elderly parents or pets, who simply want the peace of mind of knowing they can cope if something happens.
How we work
- We start from official advice. Our guides are based on recommendations from civil protection agencies (such as FEMA in the US, the UK government’s Prepare campaign, Germany’s BBK and Romania’s DSU), the European Commission and international health organisations. We read them all and turn them into concrete steps.
- We show our sources. Every guide ends with links to the documents we relied on.
- We keep things current. Each guide shows when it was last checked. When advice changes, so do we.
- We say what we don’t know. Where a topic belongs to a doctor, a lawyer or a financial adviser, we tell you to ask them.
Who we write for
The guides apply anywhere. Country-specific information, such as emergency numbers, alert systems and official agencies, appears in a separate box where you choose your country. The site is available in English and Romanian.
Who we are
Preper is run by Alexandru Popescu, Romania. You can write to us any time from the contact page with corrections, questions or topics you’d like us to cover.
How the site is funded
