What to do in…
Earthquake
- Drop, cover, hold on: under a sturdy table or by an interior wall.
- Don’t run for the stairs and don’t use the elevator.
- After: shut off the gas if you smell it, leave calmly, wearing shoes.
Fire
- Get out at once and close doors behind you. Call the emergency number.
- In smoke, stay low, close to the floor.
- Never go back for belongings. Don’t use the elevator.
Power outage
- Use flashlights, not candles.
- Unplug sensitive devices. Keep the fridge closed.
- Never run a generator, grill or camping stove indoors.
Flood
- Go upstairs or to high ground. Take your go bag.
- Never walk or drive through moving water.
- Turn off the power if water is coming in and it is safe to do so.
Air raid alert
- Go to a shelter or basement immediately.
- Otherwise: two walls between you and outside, away from windows.
- Stay until the all-clear. Never touch drone debris.
Chemical or nuclear accident
- Get inside, close windows and turn off ventilation.
- Stay in and follow phone alerts and the radio.
- Iodine tablets only if officials tell you to.
